Earlier this week we announced that the CPL website had been released. On Tuesday, the CAL website also made it's return, sporting a similar design to the CPL site. The official status of CAL is that they will only be offering Heroes of Newerth competitions at the moment.
As of this time, the league has no plans to expand their game list.

This past weekend, three of coL's divisions attended the MLG Raleigh 2010 tournament in Raleigh, North Carolina to kick off the MLG season. WoW, Tekken, and SC2 were all present as they competed for tens of thousands of dollars in prize money.
Unfortunately for WoW and SC2, they were eliminated towards the end of bracket play, putting an end to their event.
Several days ago, the CPL website was officially released to the public, only a few weeks after the press release from WuLong and New World . The website, which is currently operated by TF2 star and esports journalist, Sam "OPlaid" Lingle features only news and a sign up form at this time, though it has been announced that we can expect more from the site in the near future.
This past weekend the World Cyber Games hosted their fourth Pan-American Championship in São Paulo, Brazil.The championship game was between the host team FireGamers and Evil Geniuses. FireGamers fought their way through the lower bracket and had to beat EG twice to take home the win.
This past Sunday, the draw for IEM Group Stages happened live on Weapon of Choice hosted by DJWheat. The tournament will be taking place this Saturday and Sunday.The top two from each group will advance to the lan finals at ComicCon in New York City from October 8-10th at the Javits Center.

Starcraft II Teams Preview - Part 2

Welcome back to the Complexity Starcraft 2 North American Preview Series. Last time we talked about two teams -- fnatic and Root-Gaming. This time we’re going to focus on two individual players, Protoss phenom HuK and Complexity’s own Silver.
In the most recent months, arguably one of the top Counter-Strike source teams, Blight Canada, had been followed by sponsorship trouble. The team was promised financial backing for live LAN events by Blight's owner, blackfoger. But prior to the ESEA LAN Playoffs, Blight Canada etam was informed that Blight would no longer cover any travel expenses.
The Intel Extreme Masters is taking place from October 8-10th in New York City. Yesterday, ESL announced the event will be held at the Jacob Javits Center alongside Comic Con.Last year the NYC Comic Con had over 77,000 attendees and was ranked by Crain's New York Business at the second largest event in the City.
Today, ESL has announced the first fully organized StarCraft 2 League! The league will have four divisions. The league is modeled around European Premier football (soccer) with an American Football influence. Each division will represent different skill levels. The Premier division will feature a $1,000 prize pot.

After numerous rumors and accusations, including the blog by Tonya Welch that we posted several months ago, NewWorld has released a press release out of the blue that doesn't exactly provide any new information, but does announce that the acquisition of the CPL and CAL by WuLong Ventures is now complete and the two have entered an NDA contract regarding the financial details.
The Lions have been without a squad for around a month due to several internal dissagreements between the organization and the previous team.
Today, the organization has announced the aquisition of Swedish powerhouse H2K.cs. The announcement comes after numerous rumors indicating that the H2K cs team was unhappy with their previous home.

This past weekend, coL's Starcraft 2 player Strieb "Silver" Roman competed in the Minerva Invictus Tournament, a monthly tournament hosted by Catreina & Tesla.
Strieb managed to battle through over 500 other competitors in 9 rounds of action (bo3 format) in order to claim the tournament victory and $100 in cash along with a 64GB SSD 3.

coL.WoW takes to the sky today as they head to Austin, Texas to participate in the regional event for the 2010 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament. The top teams from this event will head to Blizzcon 2010 for the Grand Finals where the winning team will take home the impressive sum of $75,000.

WCG Pan-American is set to take place in Sao Paulo from August 27-29th. There is a total of $4,250 in that prize money for the Counter-Strike tournament. Evil Geniuses will represent the United States and Area51 will represent Canada. The Chilean representative is still unknown, but the qualifier is scheduled to take place this weekend.
Yesterday, WinOut announced the addition of their 1.6 team for 2010. Featured in the new team are some famous esports names, including Ron "Rambo" Kim and David "zid" Chin, as well as several old-school players such as Cyrus "org" Habibi. Together, the team sports some of the highest amounts of experience in North America.

2 weeks ago the coL.cs team battled through the finals bracket of the EG Master's Cup where they took first to earn their spot in China for the MSI BEAT IT finals. Today, MSI has announced their plans for the finals.
The event will be held at the Star Live venue in Beijing, China. $15,000 is on the line for first place ($25,000 pot) along with 5 MSI Notebooks.
