Project lolzorsw00t has been completed. What you are looking at now is the new eSportsPress.com website. During the last couple of weeks I have spent most of my spare time on project lolzorsw00t, better known as eSportsPress 2.
Obviously I have changed the layout of the page. But more, much more, has been changed. For instance 80 percent of all database queries are rewritten. The old site was getting slower and slower and part of the problem were slow queries. I have improved this speed dramatically.
Secondly the website is now moved to a new and much faster host. From now on Paperkudt will have to deal with all of you visiting the most complete and up-to-date eSports website.
One of the cool new features is the autoupdate function on the frontpage. No more ctrl+F5’ing hoping for new content. Version 2 of the pages checks for new articles automatically (see below). Just keep the tab open and you will be instantly notified of new content!
Another dramatic change has been made to the way you will follow certain feeds. From now on you will have to actively decide whether or not you want to ‘follow’ a certain feed or not. Next to that new feeds won’t automatically be added to your sources list. So, check out the newest sources page regularly to find out if new interesting sources have been added to the site.
Who else is using this website? Until now it was hard to find out who else is using this page. Or maybe you want to know who is viewing your profile page. These functionalities have been added. So go explore!
Multiple users have e-mailed me if I could make it possible to create custom RSS feeds for them based on their source selection. Well… that has been added too! Just go to your profile page and you will find the link to your personalized RSS feed there.
To personalize eSportsPress a little bit more I have added Gravatar support for user images. Gravatar is a global service for avatars. Just go to their page and signup with the email address you use at this page. Your avatar will then be linked to your email address on millions of websites!
Last but not least I have added userpoints and userlevel. This will show you and your friends how active you are on eSportsPress. And to make it even better top 10s have been added. Her you will see which sources have the most followers and which users are the most active on the site.
